  Alma Ata 315
was developed in Alma-Ata USSR, (now Almaty, Kazakhstan) at the Alma-Ata Tobacco State Farm about 1950 where several new hybrid tobaccos were developed by crossing different oriental strains. The goal was to increase production and disease resistance of oriental types while maintaining the original flavors and aromas of the parent plants. Alma Ata 315 produces a mild and very aromatic smoke. It grows to a height of 3' or more producing 12-16 leaves from 8" to 10" wide by 16"-20" long. Matures in 40 days. Best planted at 14" to 16" spacing.
