Meechurinski is a Russian oriental tobacco developed by Ivan Michurin, by crossing early Bulgarian tobacco and small leaf Sumatra. It is early maturing reaching bloom in only 35-40 days from transplant. It is a small plant growing to 2' in height with large secondary suckers. It produces 6-8 main leaves averaging 6" wide by 10" long. The surface of the leaf is smooth, with the edge is gently rolling over. Leaves air cure to a light brown, making a fragrant smoke. Meechurinski can be planted at 12" to 16" spacing. Grows well in sandy soils.
