| Malatya is an oriental tobacco originating in Turkey. The plant reaches a height of 24 to 30 inches. Blooming starts in only 40 days from transplant and continues throughout the growing season. Suckers form from nearly every node and grow to nearly the size of the main stem, producing an abundance of leaf 4 to 6 inches in width and up to 12 to 16 inches long. The dense dark green leaf and long blooming time make Malatya a rather ornamental plant. It is also one of the most frost resistant strains of tobacco.
