| Kelly Burley is an
heirloom white-stem variety that tends to ripen uniformly. Historically,
it was used to make plug tobacco, but it is also useful for cigarette
and pipe blending. It grows to an average height of 5 feet, with 15 to
20 leaves averaging 9 to 12 inches wide and from 18 to 28 in
length. It color cures easily and dries to a light brown, and can
be stalk cut and hung whole or primed. Like many white stemmed burley's,
Kelly grows slowly after transplant, but then grows vigorously after 1
month. It reaches maturity in 50-60 days. PI 552671
