Bamboo Shoot - A bright leaf variety that
grows to 8 feet in height. It is a columnar plant with light green leaves and
cream colored stems, and a heavy producer with moderate suckering. Matures
in 80-85 days. The leaves air cure to a light yellow or golden brown. Bamboo Shoot is
mild to smoke but has a fairly high nicotine content. The seed was originally collected in China and donated to the USDA in 1988.
