Bafra is an Oriental tobacco from the northern coast of Turkey grown in the districts of Bafra and Alaçam, near the city of Samsun. This Turkish tobacco is often used in pipe tobacco blends and cigarettes. Like Samsun, Bafra has a heart-shaped petiolate leaf but tends to be milder than Samsun, but spicier than most Basma types. It is a columnar shaped plant growing to 5 feet producing from 24-30 leaves ranging from 12-16 inches in length and 8-10 in width.. It matures in 50-55 days. It is usually sun cured to a medium brown. Bafra has a low nicotine content averaging about 1%..
